Time for Community

Who do you fall back on?

When you’re in need of support, who do you turn to? Oftentimes, we reach out to those who have known us the longest. Family, friends, community members who’ve been there with us through thick and thin. It takes time to build those relationships, to know who you can trust to help you through a challenge. That’s why fostering community within Plymouth Housing’s buildings is so important in helping our residents recover from the trauma of homelessness and maintain a stable home.

Learn how Emily, a housing case manager at Plymouth Housing, supports our residents by not only helping them individually with day-to-day challenges, but also by helping them form connections with one another.

Meet Emily

Plymouth Housing

“What I find to be unique and cool [about my job is that] you have a hand in helping people stay connected to the world, helping them with whatever comes their way.”

Emily describes her job working with residents as a privilege. Whether she’s dealing with something small, like finding dish soap, or large, like supporting someone through a mental health crisis, she takes pride in making sure residents get the help they need.

The historic Pacific Apartments are home to 110 people who have experienced long-term homelessness. Some residents have lived there for over 20 years! The residents and staff at the “Pac” have formed a strong, rich community in which they support and celebrate one another.
